This stunning 10.17 carat Star Cabochon Ruby is a very special stone. Cut into a perfect cabochon cut measuring 12 mm across it maximises the amazing natural inclusion that creates a start in the stone when viewed. The deep red colour of this stone shows its true quality and would sit well in many different designs of pendants, rings, bangles or bracelets.
Ruby is a crystallised aluminium oxide, and has exactly the same chemical composition as a sapphire. Only small amounts of colouring trace elements separate them. From dark red to a light pink, the ruby has proved its popularity in jewellery for hundreds of years. The finest stones come from
the Mogok region in northern Myanmar (Burma). These stones can be (traditional & brilliant cut), oval, emerald-cut, marquise, pear, trillion, triangle, square (carrie-cut & princess), baguette, taper, cushion, and many other fancy cuts, all in a large range of sizes.

The “star” in a cabochon ruby, also known as asterism, is a six-rayed star-like optical phenomenon that appears when light interacts with aligned, needle-like rutile inclusions within the gemstone.

- If needed, we will send you a ring sizer and an email to which you will need to reply with the size you need after using the ring sizer.

- Final inspection and Quality Control will be done in person by Fenella Baskerville.
